Trinity Access – Foundation Course (Mature students)

The Foundation Course offers another way to third level for Mature Students whose social, cultural and economic experience has prevented them from going to college. It prepares students, both personally and academically, to study for a degree. On successful completion of the Foundation Course students receive a Level 6 Certificate in Foundation Studies for Higher Education from Trinity College.


Discover University

Discover University is a summer programme that aims to give young people the opportunity to experience a taste of life at NCI and to see college as part of their future. Developed in collaboration with local companies such as McCann FitzGerald, Dublin Port and Facebook, it encourages young people to achieve their dreams through education.

Trinity Access – Pearse and Plunket Colleges

Trinity Access partners with Pearse and Plunket Colleges of Further Education, to deliver a one-year, full-time, QQI-accredited university access course for more mature students. Students attend classes in Pearse or Plunket. The Partnership aims to widen access to degree courses and to maximise the numbers of socio-economically disadvantaged students progressing to Trinity College Dublin.

Educational Guidance Programmes

ELI’s Educational Guidance Programmes explores young people’s career aspirations and opportunities;  and help awareness among students (and their parents) of the importance of third level education in the pursuit of certain careers.  Volunteers from local companies such as McCann FitzGerald, Dublin Port and Facebook are inspiring role models and supportive adults.


Pathways to Law

The programme targets senior-cycle school students through to third-level and seeks to enhance their interest in the study of law. Corporate supporters: McCann FitzGerald, Matheson, Arthur Cox, A&L Goodbody, William Fry, Mason Hayes and Curran, Linklaters, Maples Group, Eugene F Collins.

Trinity Access – Mature Student Office

The Mature Student Office (MSO), part of Trinity Access, provides guidance, advice and support to prospective mature students (23+). We run open days, Discover Trinity events and College Awareness Week events. One-to-one application advice and support is available. A range of programmes for students, teachers and schools to widen participation at third-level of under-represented groups. The student programmes engage students to develop the knowledge, networks and skills needed to make informed decisions about future education. The schools programmes helps to supports teachers to engage in continuous professional development, research and events.

Trinity’s Evening & Short Courses

Trinity College Dublin offers a wide range of evening and short courses in many different fields from history of art to social work, Greek and Roman mythology and religion to physics and a wide variety of languages among others. It’s all about gaining of new ideas, new knowledge, and in some instances, new qualifications.

Dublin Port Scholarship Programme

Candidates for the scholarship will include school leavers, mature students and individuals wishing to pursue third-level foundation courses as well as repeat Leaving Certificate students. Must be living in the Port area for at least 5 years.

Since 2014, Trinity College Dublin have partnered with Futurelearn to provide free Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) in a wide range of subject areas, from history to women’s health.
